1959年摩城之父Barry Gordy於美國汽車工業城底特律(Motor Town)創立了摩城唱片公司，其製作哲學—KISS（Keep It Simple, Stupid），音樂旋律歡快、節奏明確，之後也孕育了The Supremes、The Jackson 5、Stevie Wonder等巨星。
